Rotterdam to supply Europe with 4.6 Megatons of hydrogen by 2030

A large number of companies in the Port of Rotterdam plan to supply Europe with at least 4.6 Mtonnes of hydrogen annually from 2030 onwards.

This will contribute substantially to the European targets to:

  • significantly reduce climate change,
  • increase energy independence and
  • create sustainable prosperity.

The combined efforts are a concrete expression of the increased European ambition, which, under REPowerEU, aims to quadruple the production and import of hydrogen compared to the "Fit for 55" package (from 5.6 million tonnes to 20 million tonnes).
