We believe hydrogen will play a major role as the energy carrier of the future. Gasunie wants to develop the hydrogen economy and invest in hydrogen projects together with partners. By working together, we can develop the hydrogen market and stimulate supply and demand.
Large-scale use of hydrogen requires a reliable network, both for transport and storage. We can make a huge leap forward by using the gas infrastructure that already exists. The aim is to have transport of hydrogen to and from major industrial areas in the Netherlands and further to Hamburg and the Ruhr region ready as early as 2030. Only then will hydrogen eventually become as affordable as sustainable gas and sustainable electricity.
